Cashback
Quotes: "Ben Willis: Once upon a time, I wanted to know what love was. Love is there if you want it to be. You just have to see that it's wrapped in beauty and hidden away in between the seconds of your life. If you don't stop for a minute, you might miss it."
"Ben Willis: I could feel a faint shift in a faraway place. A current of unknown consequences was on its way, moving towards me like an unstoppable wave of fate."
"Ben Willis: Crush. It's funny how the same word for the feeling of disappointment can be used for the feeling of attraction. The Oxford English Dictionary states one of the meanings for the word crushed as "a strong and unreasoning, but transitory attachment." "
One boring day while browsing through the dvds looking for something to watch, i had chance upon this film entitled "Cashback". Looking at the DVD cover i wondered if it was any good, seeing that it shows a half naked woman in a grocery store, i thought it might take some of my boredom away. What i didn't knew then was that i was about to watch one of the most expressive, inspiring, artistic, beautiful, romantic, and true films in all the movies i've seen.
Some of you might be thinking, "What the heck is Cashback? how come i never heard it before?". Don't worry, it's probably not your fault at all. For what i know, this wonderful film hasn't reached the cinemas of our shores. And it's such a shame. We would be missing on a very good film. One we might need to watch.
I said 'need'. Probably because after watching the film, it felt like an 'i needed that' moment. It was an escapre from all those cheesy rom-com films or the repeated action-story type films that comes out every week. But more than that, i needed it to find my passion towards art once again. To find my dreams and move towards it. It was truly inspiring for me. The narrations were awesome, and would you know... the writer/director only wrote the script for 7 days!
This is truly a masterpiece. Watch this, you'll need it. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Other |
CLOVERFIELD
i just watched Cloverfield a while ago, and what most of you may say it to be a shitty movie... i purely disagree with you. Cloverfield is engaging, thrilling, and something new. It is not a bad movie. Though you may get nausea and throw up during the movie, this movie is brilliant. From the concept to Cg, everything is brilliant. It sucks you to the middle of the action and leaves you there. It is the start of the evolution of all monster movies to come.
What made me angry after watching the movie was when after the end credits started rolling all i hear were grumbles about how the movie was a waste of time, confusing, and they didn't expect it to be like 'Blair Witch'. Makes me want to say: "Didn't you watch the trailers or read about what the movie is all about?? Expect it to be like that! Oh.. and it's better than 'Blair Witch'! Don't just buy tickets to some random movie you picked and say it is shitty."
++Just to clarify things up before some of you guys watch the movie and complain.++
Don't complain about the monster not having enough screen time:
~First of all, the movie does not focus on the monster but on the people stuck in the middle of it's rampage. How they try to survive and how they react and handle the situation. The monster has enough screen time for this type of movie.
Don't complain about the shaky camera movements:
~It's that kind of movie. It is seen through the eyes of a "Handheld" camcorder.. So of course it's shaky! what do you expect if the one holding the camera was running for his life? You can throw up at the movie house.. everyone will understand you. ^____^
Don't complain that the movie told you nothing about the monster or where it came from:
~Again... it focuses on the people involved and it is seen through the camcorder they brought with them. So what they see and what they know.. that's all you're gonna get. That's the wonder of the movie.
So Anyway.. I recommend this movie to you guys with good eye vision and strong stomachs. ^____^ It's one hell of a ride! | Secret | Jan 5, '08 9:13 AM for everyone |

~Secret~ “Follow the notes upon the journey At first sight marks one's destiny Once the voyage comes to an end Return lies within hasty keys”
Secret, aka The Secret That Cannot Be Told, is a Taiwanese romance film released in 2007. It is the first movie directed by Taiwanese musician Jay Chou, he also stars in it.
I downloaded this movie about half a year ago, and i can't believe i just watched it now. I should have watched this sooner! agh!
Another boy meets girl flick. Only this time the boy is a music student who happens to be a piano genius, and so is the girl... and the girl is reallllyyyy mysterious.. and... hmm.. okay, it's not just one of those ordinary boy meets girl movies. This has some added elements which makes it very new to me.
First it starts as your usual very simple romantic story. Then things get interesting because of the girl's "mysteriousness" (is that a word?). and then stuff happens, and near the end i got scared (yeah, i got scared in a romantic flick, you'll know what i mean)... pardon this very vague summary, because if i elaborate too much it will spoil the movie.. Anyway, it's a movie about finding thee one you are destined with and breaking the barriers that sets you apart.
I gotta hand it to Jay Chou, it's hard to believe that it's his first time directing a movie. This movie was good.. in fact it's too good. The music in the movie was Excellent (from original songs to scores from piano genius Chapin). Don't miss the very awesome piano duel! The sceneries and color theme was just right for the movie. Although i don't watch chinese movies much, this is gotta be one of my favorite. Just watch it guys, and you'll know why it's one of my faves.
This movie got me wondering about who'll be my destiny.... :D
